There’s a new headline making the rounds right now about AI selling homes in Arizona.
Platforms are popping up offering to sell your home for a flat fee — sometimes as low as a few thousand dollars — instead of the traditional commission model.
On the surface, that sounds like a win.
And to be clear — AI is powerful. It can analyze data, automate tasks, and help streamline parts of the process.
But here’s what’s getting lost in the conversation:
Real estate isn’t just a process.
- It’s a negotiation.
- It’s positioning.
- It’s timing.
- It’s understanding people.
- It's experience.
And that’s where things get dangerous when people rely purely on tech.
We’re already seeing it — more misinformation, more overconfidence, and more decisions being made without full context. AI can give you answers… but it doesn’t always give you the right answers for your specific situation.
What’s interesting is this:
After the 2024 NAR settlement — which was supposed to create downward pressure on commissions — we’ve actually seen the opposite in many cases. The conversation didn’t eliminate the need for representation… it made the value gap more obvious.
Because when things get more complex, not less — expertise matters more.
The best agents aren’t just opening doors or putting homes on the MLS.
AI will absolutely change this industry.
But it’s not replacing great agents.
That gap is where real value lives.
